Ghana vs. Chile: International Soccer at PPL Park

On Wednesday night, on the rain-soaked pitch of PPL Park, Ghana faced off with Chile in an international soccer friendly match.

Despite being a friendly match, the game was somewhat chippy. As downpours rained down from the sky on players and fans alike, cheers and boos also rained down to the field from the stands.

The match looked as if it were going to remain tied 0-0 heading into the intermission but in the 42nd minute, Ghana’s Richard Mpong took a cross from teammate Sulley Muntari and placed the ball past Claudio Bravo to make it 1-0. Cheers erupted from the Ghana faithful.

The rain, and action, continued in the second half with both teams failing to capitalize on scoring chances.

Already trailing 1-0, Chile soon found themselves down a man as well. In the 75th minute, Chile got the chance it needed when forward Matías Fernández connected on an equalizing goal.

The game ended in a 1-1 tie. Despite the rain there was a great atmosphere of international soccer at PPL all night.
