Tips to Beat the Heat: Head to Minnesota
It was a scorching hot and humid night in Philadelphia on Friday, July 6th. People were doing anything and everything they could to beat the heat.
House of Hearts and Campus Night Out offered two suggestions for a cool evening; turn the lights out, and head to Minnesota.
This wasn’t a literal suggestion to head north to the land of 10,000 lakes, it was an invite to pack the dance floor at The Blockley for the latest Lights Out party featuring headliner Christian Bauhofer, better known by his DJ name, Minnesota.
The 18+ to party event kicked off at 9pm with an opening set by Ascendance as the venue filled up with fans decked out in white and neon clothing. As they rocked out in the black lighting with their glow toys, LoveCityDJs took over on the decks.
No amount of air conditioning can combat a packed dance floor and within no time the venue was packed to the gills. From the body painting area to the bar, the dance floor to the stage, the under 21 area was a hot mess of people. The over 21 area offered a little more room to move but eventually that began to fill up as well.
Johnny V took over the DJing duties next as go-go dancers danced on stage and bubble machines cranked out floating orbs.
By the time Minnesota hit the stage around 12:30pm, the Blockley had been whipped into a frenzy. Minnesota wasted little time in dropping some dirty beats, don’t'cha know. We’d heard his set at Electric Forrest was bonkers and this one was worthy of being called the same.
It’s going to be hard to top this Lights Out party but they’ll attempt to do so when the event returns to the Blockley on August 10th with headliner K-Drew.
